Cryotherapy is a specific treatment, particularly indicated for damaged hair, brittle, dry and dull. What is it made of? How is cryotherapy performed? And what are the benefits of this treatment on the hair? Gianni Coppa, hairdresser-founder of the R’Factory salon (located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris), answers us.
What is cryotherapy for hair?
Cryotherapy – understand, cold treatment – restores the natural barrier of the hair, and, ultimatelyto repair them in depth.
The principle ? A treatment enriched with acai, hyaluronic acid and collagen is applied to the hair for several minutes. A “frozen” straightener (at -16 degrees) is then used to make the product penetrate the hair fiber.
Cryotherapy for hair: the benefits
“This treatment facilitates lubrication between the hair fibers, allows perfect absorption of nutrients and promotes complete reconstruction of the hair”, says hairdresser Gianni Coppa. Before adding: “Post-cryotherapy, the hair is shiny, soft and silky. The hair fiber is repaired for four to seven weeks.”

Hair cryotherapy, who is it for?
The expert is formal: this technique is suitable for all hair type : natural to the most vulnerable. However, this treatment is particularly indicated for people with damaged, brittle, fine, very dry and/or dull hair.
“We start cryotherapy with a shampoo in order to open the scales of the hair”, explains the expert. “Then, the vegan treatment (composed of acai, hyaluronic acid and collagen) is applied to the hair, which is still damp. Then, a cold hair straightener, is used, strand by strand. Finally, the care is rinsed in the tank to eliminate the surplus, before the drying/brushing box.
Does cryotherapy smooth the hair?
If you wish to have smooth hair in the long term, you will have to turn instead to Brazilian straightening. Indeed, cryotherapy does not modify the structure of the hair fiber. On the other hand, after the treatment, the hair will be more supple.

Hair cryotherapy, what are the dangers?
This treatment is absolutely not aggressive for the hair fiber (quite the contrary) and is suitable for all hair types. “Cryotherapy is ideal before summer, to protect the fiber from the harmful effects of UV rays, chlorine and salt water”, underlines the expert. “This technique is also recommended post-color or post-balayage to repair hair quickly.”
Hair cryotherapy: for what price?
On average, the prices for cryotherapy vary between 100 and 130 euros, depending on the hair salons and the length of your hair.
