7 beauty trends spotted at New York Fashion Week

During New York Fashion Week, the beauty dived between minimalist looks and unbridled paraphernalia. The minimalist aesthetic takes advantage of skin care, used as makeup. As summed up by the legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath, “is the encounter between superb skin and substantial minimalism”. Unsurprisingly, the 1990s also ruled the catwalks. Not only on the side of flawless skin lightly made up and pulled buns, but also for its ornaments pushed to the extreme. From glitter-covered eyelids to rounded hairstyles reminiscent of the top models of the decade, the references have become more and more present and flamboyant.

For the fashion shows, the accent was placed on a singular beauty specific to the season. Individual models wore sculpted braids, impressive lengths and imaginative adornments. 90s inspired

The 90s were everywhere. The minimalist trend was no doubt in Victor Glemaud with mouths with bronze reflections and at Sandy Liangwho took Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy as a muse. On the other side of the spectrum, Tory Burch opted for dizzying glittery cat eyes and Sergio Hudson has reproduced the hairstyles of the tops of the time by keeping the locks at cheekbone height.

Following the spring forecast, rain-soaked faces and hair lined the catwalks. We will especially remember the models of the parade Eckhaus Latta skin inspired by “hyper realism” and face masks in AmericanPsycho. In the same spirit, at Marrisa Wilsonthe cascades of hair were sprinkled with translucent pearls that mimicked raindrops.

XXL hair

At the house of Collina Strada, serpentine braids were so long that models wore them thrown over their shoulders. Same for PriscaVera, where intricate braids and loose side ponytails swayed on the catwalk. At the house of LaQuan Smiththe high and elegant duvets were inspired by the hair provided by horses.

Beautiful skin shone on the catwalks, so much so that masks were a must backstage a few minutes from the shows. Khaite and Gabriela Hearst called on experts from Tata Harper for clarified and hydration-saturated looks. At the house of Fendi and Altuzarraglowy complexions were in order with a lightly sculpted mirror finish with bronzer, blush or illuminator on strategic areas.
