From the age of 25, the production of elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid, responsible for the hydration and tone of the skin, decreases. If you want to preserve the youthfulness of your skin, it is therefore recommended to start preventive anti-aging care at this time. A treatment is particularly effective for revitalizing the skin and revitalizing the face: it is the skinbooster. We tell you more with Sarah Fadli, aesthetic doctor at Maison Lutétia.
What is a skinbooster treatment?
The skinbooster is a mesotherapy treatment. “It is characterized by injections of slightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid, to hydrate the skin and stimulate the synthesis of collagen”, explains the expert. Before clarifying: “Injections of hyaluronic acid can be scary because we immediately think that it will modify the volumes of the face. But the fact that it is slightly reticulated does not correct the volumes and does not modify the appearance of the face.”
Here, we are mainly looking to plump the skin and improve skin elasticity. “As the days go by, the boost of radiance will intensify and the wrinkles and fine lines will gradually smooth out. The skin will be plump, fresh and luminous”, she adds.
The skinbooster, who is it for?
The specialist recommends the skinbooster treatment to all those wishing to improve the appearance and texture of their skin, delay skin aging and first wrinklesas well as boost the radiance of the complexion. It is also ideal for acting on skin damaged by the sun after vacation.
In general, it is advisable to start the skinbooster from the age of 30. Injections can be performed on the face, neckline, hands or forehead.
Dr Sarah Fadli nevertheless warns: “The effects of the treatment are seen in the medium and long term. If the skin is already very damaged, the result will not be miraculous. It is mainly a preventive treatment.”
An appointment with an aesthetic doctor beforehand is necessary to assess whether the skinbooster treatment is right for you. This will allow the professional to explain the process and the results to you.
In general, this treatment is divided into two sessions. The first session, two syringes of hyaluronic acid will be injected to hydrate and plump the skin. A month later, during the second session, only one syringe will be needed. Then, it is recommended to repeat an injection every six months to maintain the result.
“The injections are done either by following small dots with a needle, or using a coating technique with a cannula (small tube allowing the passage of air or a liquid through an orifice, editor’s note). For our part, we mainly use this second method, because it avoids bruises and allows the product to be evenly distributed”, indicates the expert.
This treatment takes place on an outpatient basis and does not require social eviction. There is no pre-injection care to perform. You can apply numbing cream to your face if you don’t want to feel the needle.
No particular maintenance is necessary. Except to repeat an injection every six months to maximize the results and make the effects last.
“You can go back to your classic skincare routine after the treatment,” says Dr. Sarah Fadli. Of course, to preserve the health of your skin, it is recommended to protect it from the sun on a daily basis, drink plenty of water, eat a balanced diet and practice a sporting activity. We take care of it from the inside so that it is radiant on the outside.
What price for a skinbooster treatment?
The price of the skinbooster varies depending on the clinic or office where you are going to perform the injections. In general, it takes between 250 euros and 350 euros per syringe of hyaluronic acid. Either a first session at around 700 euros and the second at half price.
Contraindications and side effects of the skinbooster
L’hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally produced by the skin. It therefore poses little danger. Nevertheless, some information is to be known.
- The contraindications of the skinbooster are the same as for hyaluronic acid. This treatment is not recommended:
- people with an autoimmune disease
- pregnant and breastfeeding women
- people who have already received permanent treatments with hyaluronic acid
- people with skin lesions
As for the side effects, it is possible to observe redness and bruises after the injections, but this is not serious and disappears quickly.
