380 m long and comprising 22 spans, the RD 606 viaductlocated on the town of Moret (Seine-et-Marne) and which allows the departmental road to successively cross the Loing, the Loing canal, the Orvanne and the RD 218needs work.
Indeed, if no imminent danger affects this work built in 1957, the Department has nevertheless decided to start a construction site of approximately one year (started on September 26, 2022 and which should end on October 20, 2023) in the face of to the gradual deterioration of the building.
“The structure is not questioned”
Over time, this work of art has deteriorated. If the safety of the general structure is not called into question, the viaduct today presents shards of concrete which allow a glimpse of the reinforcement, surface defects and sealing problems. The railings have also suffered from corrosion, as have the sidewalk coverings or the road joints.
The work undertaken is taking place in three phases and consists of replacing the bearings, expansion joints and guardrails and repairing the watertightness of the structure, installing the new wearing course and finally to the reinforcement of the structure and the repair of the concrete. An operation entirely financed by the Department of Seine-et-Marne for an amount of nearly €4,500,000 including tax.
Ten nights of traffic cutoff
Through this rehabilitation operation, the Department reaffirms its commitment to the safety of road users. In 2022, nearly 100 million euros were devoted to the maintenance and renovation of departmental roads.
But obviously, who says work says traffic galleys. However, to keep these to a minimum, the Department took care to maintain one traffic lane in each direction during the three phases of the work.
However, ten nights (from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) of total cut off to traffic will take place during the jacking operations of the structure, and a traffic restriction to one lane in the Montereau – Fontainebleau direction will be introduced for 10 days during the construction of the joints. To deal with these problems, motorists will be able to borrow deviations which will be set up for the occasion.
Works which should allow road users to use the viaduct without fear when the repair site of the Moret bridge will begin in turn (possibly in 2024).
