We treated ourselves to a moment of well-being in an authentic Moroccan riad in the heart of Lille. A journey among the multitude of oriental pleasures around traditional hammam, sauna, ritual, massage, private spa. Three hours of pure happiness punctuated by the delights of the La Mamounia restaurant. A total change of scenery if we add to that the possibility of enjoying a night on site in one of the three guest rooms overlooking the riad.

It’s 4 p.m. Our boarding is done smoothly when we swap our civilian clothes for a white bathrobe. We are guided to the traditional hammam where the heat immediately has a purifying effect on our bodies. After a few minutes, we are called for a scrub in the oriental traditions with the application of perfumed black soap, exfoliation of the body with a glove to soften the skin and a purifying wrap with natural clay. After a tonic rinse with a seal, we are taken to the rest room for a moment of calm with a deckchair, mint tea and a small fresh clementine. The feeling of softness and lightness that invades us continues with the massage from head to toe with organic argan oil for 30 minutes. Destination the stars.
Private spa with hot tub, sauna and hammam
Our wellness trip had to stop off at the private “Magic of the Desert” spa. A privileged moment in an exotic setting, where the dimmed lights make the stars sparkle on the fresco that covers the walls. A whirlpool bath awaits us, with the possibility of adjusting the lights and the power of the jets. A private hammam and sauna are also available to vary the pleasures. Two hours of disconnection to live together where time is suspended and where it is only a question of letting go while taking care of yourself.

The third leg of the journey begins when the doors of La Mamounia open. Located in the heart of the riad, this oriental restaurant is an institution that has been delighting palates for 40 years. An establishment with a well-established reputation thanks to recipes for dishes that create emotion, a refined setting and quality service. After a small appetizer cocktail, we let ourselves be seduced by the royal couscous which is unanimous among our guests. A nice shared slap and emotion diffused in the authenticity of the dishes. A nice moment of sharing to live as a couple or with friends with the promise of finishing the meal with mouth-filling flavors and more than satisfied satiety. We end on a sweet note with small pastries that complete this gourmet stage on a faultless basis.
One night in a guest room in the riad
Last step for those who wish to continue the journey, take a seat in one of the three guest rooms in the heart of this complex of nearly 5000 m2. An oasis of tranquility found in the apartments that flourish in this riad in the heart of town but away from the hustle and bustle.
