What day is Halloween?
What could be better than starting the week with sweets? This year, Halloween falls on Monday, October 31. This holiday is celebrated today mainly in Ireland, Great Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand. In France, since 1990, we have the habit of saying: “Candy or a spell!” In Mexico, we rather celebrate “Dia de los Muertos”, the day of the dead, on November 2.
A bit of history on the Halloween party
Every year, the children will collect sweets on the famous October 31st. Halloween is originally a Celtic festival of Irish origin. About 3,000 years ago, the Celtic calendar did not end on December 31, but on October 31. And this last night of the year was the night of the god of death. Legend has it that on October nights ghosts came to haunt the living. To ward them off, the Celts used to dress in scary costumes and gather to party on the evening of October 31.
